In Provence, the grapes reflect the diversity and unique character of our wine region!
At the Château des Bormettes, Cinsault, Grenache, Rolle and Syrah are cultivated along with Mourvèdre, Carignan, Clairette, Petit Manseng, but also Caladoc and Ugni Blanc, a true field of exploration for our inspired team.
These grape varieties, adapted to the Mediterranean climate, contribute to the diversity and reputation of our wines.

The grapes of the Domaine
Cinsault : Mainly used for rosés, it offers light and fruity wines with nice acidity.
Grenache : A dominant red grape variety that brings aromas of red fruits and spices, with generous structure.
Rolle : A white grape variety that produces fresh and aromatic wines, with notes of citrus and pear.
Syrah : A red grape variety that offers deep wines, with notes of vanilla, tobacco and cooked red fruits
Mourvèdre : A robust red grape that contributes to the richness and complexities of wines. We appreciate its aromas of violets and blackberries, its notes of pepper and Cinnamon, enhanced by animal nuances.
Carignan : Historically important in Provence, this red grape variety produces full-bodied, colorful and generous wines, offering aromas of cherries, raspberries and prunes.
These grape varieties, adapted to the Mediterranean climate of Provence, contribute to the diversity and reputation of the region’s wines.

57 hectares are planted with 4 main grape varieties. A great diversity of grape varieties reigns over the rest of the vineyard.

A vineyard in sustainable farming
Château des Bormettes is resolutely committed to environmentally friendly agriculture, embracing a reasoned and sustainable approach across its entire estate. For years, the soil and vegetation of the plots have been carefully maintained with varied mixtures such as vetch, barley, rye, wheat, fava beans and clover. This plant biodiversity contributes not only to the beauty of the site, but also to the natural regeneration of the soil.
Prioritizing bio-control, the majority of treatments are carried out with environmentally friendly solutions. State-of-the-art equipment ensures optimal working conditions, thus promoting the microbial diversity of soils, a key element of their health and sustainability.

500 sheep roam the vineyards during pruning. This initiative serves a dual purpose: to offer an ecological weeding method and to enrich the soil with a natural organic fertilizer.

The Château des Bormettes obtained the level 3 High Environmental Value (HEV) certification on July 15th, 2021. This distinction underlines its exemplary commitment around four essential axes: the preservation of biodiversity, a responsible phytosanitary strategy, balanced management fertilization and responsible use of water resources.

50 hives have found their place on an emblematic plot of the domain, called “Les Ruchers”. This collaboration has enabled a young beekeeper to start his business while strengthening local biodiversity.
